Dr. Ben Liu, DDS originally hails from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He earned his B.A in Psychology from The Johns Hopkins University, in nearby Baltimore, MD. After working for several years, Dr. Liu learned that dentistry was his calling, and he went on to attend Columbia University in the heart of New York City to pursue his Doctorate in Dental Surgery. Knowing that working with children was a necessary component of his future career, he pursued a two year specialty program, earning his certificate in Pediatric Dentistry at New York University. Upon graduation, Dr. Liu worked as an associate at various pediatric dental offices in New Jersey. He moved to the DC metro area in 2013 to establish three locations of his own pediatric practice, SuperKids Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Liu is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, Maryland Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and Virginia Society of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Liu sincerely believes that fun, patience, and a gentle touch are the key factors in earning the trust of a child. Further, he feels that by educating the parent and incorporating them as a partner in maintaining the oral health of their child, the benefits are magnified and a stable and safe dental home can be created for the child and the family. Dr. Liu looks forward to providing dental care for your child that is paramount in both quality and compassion.
Dr. Liu resides in Sterling with his wife and baby girl in Sterling, Va.
Dr. Lucy was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. After finishing her undergraduate degree at Auburn University she spent a year in graduate school at the Cambridge School of Art in England where she met her husband. She then went on to earn a doctorate in dental medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Following her passion of working with children, she then underwent speciality training in pediatric dentistry at one of the nation’s top five children’s hospitals, Children’s Hospital Colorado. Some of the highlights of her residency include training in laser dentistry, oral conscious sedation, special care clinic, interdisciplinary clinics (cleft lip and palate, oral feeding clinic), phase one orthodontics, and hospital dentistry (general anesthesia).
Dr. Lucy enjoys working with children and strives to make dentistry a positive experience for them. She is kind, caring, and committed to promoting oral health in her community.
In her free time, Dr. Lucy enjoys road cycling, drawing, and cooking dinner with her husband. She is the proud parent of Elizabeth Jane.
Dr. Eva Swenson has an international and diverse dental background. She combines her American and Scandinavian dental philosophies to bring a unique perspective to pediatric dentistry with a gentle, conservative, and preventative approach. She firmly believes that every dental visit should be a positive experience, and that establishing a trusting relationship with her patients and their parents is the key to a lifelong positive attitude towards good oral health.
Dr. Swenson graduated from dental school at the Royal Dental College at Aarhus University in Denmark in 2010 with a Master of Science in Dental Surgery. After graduation, she worked as a general dentist in Norway, her home country, providing comprehensive dental care to children and adults. She then completed two years of general dentistry residency, one year at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in Farmington and a second year at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in Memphis. Her passion for working with children grew throughout this period. She was accepted into the Pediatric Postdoctoral Program at the University of Alabama School of Dental Medicine in Birmingham, where she earned her Pediatric Dental Specialty degree in June 2015. As part of her residency training, Dr. Swenson received intensive knowledge and training in the areas of pediatric medicine, behavior management, oral conscious sedation, dental rehabilitation under general anesthesia, and treating patients with special needs.
In her free time, Dr. Swenson enjoys traveling, baking, and spending time with friends and family. Besides English, she speaks Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish fluently.
Dr. Swenson is Board Certified with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and an active member of American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Northern Virginia Dental Association and the Danish Dental Association.
Dr. Jade Tran grew up in the mile high city of Denver, Colorado where she attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for her bachelor’s degree in biology. Pursuing her dream to become a dentist, she made a move to the big apple and received her doctor of dental surgery degree from New York University. She excelled in school graduating with honors, and was inducted into the national dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon, reserved for the top 10% of the class. She stayed in New York and completed a general practice residency at Nassau Medical Center in Long Island to advance her clinical skills in dentistry. She practiced as a general dentist for 3 years before pursuing her true passion of creating beautiful smiles with orthodontics. She then completed her post-graduate education in orthodontics and facial orthopedics at NYU, where she did extensive research on accelerating tooth movement. Her research, “Cytokine Expression and Accelerated Tooth Movement”, was published in the Journal of Dental Research. Shortly after graduation Dr. Tran became a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. As a board certified orthodontist, she strives to provide patients with the best care possible. benDr. Tran has participated in several dental outreaches in Romania and Nicaragua, and looks forward to many more. In her spare time she enjoys photography and spending time with her daughter. Dr. Tran is married to her dental school sweetheart, who is a practicing oral surgeon.
Dr. T (Anh Tran) was born in Saigon, Vietnam, grew up in Europe and decided after high school to move to the United States to pursue his dream to become an orthodontist. He started his dental education at West Virginia University. He excelled in dental school and graduated at the top of his class, and was initiated into Dentistry’s most prestigious Honor Society. He went on to complete his Orthodontic Specialty training at his Alma Mater (WVU), where he also received a degree of Masters in Science. Dr. T has provided top-quality orthodontics for the last 20 years in the Northern Virginia area. In his spare time, he loves spending time with family and friends, and playing with his absolutely spoiled rotten French bulldog, Siri.
